We build friendships between children across Bristol, encouraging a sense of togetherness, challenging prejudice and stereotypes, and contributing to a more cohesive society.
Bristol School Linking twins year 5 primary classes from schools across Bristol’s diverse communities for a year long programme. Together, in class, online and on school visits, the children from those classes explore four key questions:
Who am I? – Exploring Identity
Who are we? – Celebrating Diversity
Where do we live? – Promoting Community
How do we all live together? – Championing Equality
Bristol School Linking is free, flexible and fully resourced, and welcomes new schools to join this project.
One of the most powerful aspects was children beginning to reflect about themselves – they learnt more about who they are, what they do, and what they take for granted.

As a teacher, I really enjoyed getting to know the teachers at the other school and what they were doing. It makes you feel a bit less alone, and less self-involved. When you’re so wrapped up with your year group and planning you forget other people are doing exactly the same as us.
